An atmospheric journey into the eerie and elegant past of Salo.
Join a licensed local guide for a seasonal evening tour through the landscape of river valleys, misty manors, sacred ridges, and haunting local legends and experience the magic of hundreds of pumpkins in the field. This tour is designed for adults who enjoy history with a touch of mystery, and cider.
This is not a jump-scare haunted tour – it’s something deeper. A thoughtful blend of history, atmosphere and the timeless art of oral storytelling. If autumn had a voice, this would be it.
Stop 1: Design Hill – Cider Tasting with a Creative Twist
Our first destination is Design Hill, where we’ll enjoy a curated tasting of four unique ciders from Vaski Cider house. The team behind Vaski includes Michelin-awarded sommelier Christina Haukka, internationally acclaimed cider maker Tapani Levanto, and visual artist Emmi Mustonen. Together, they craft beverages that blend art, craftsmanship, and the flavors of Nordic nature. During the tasting, you’ll hear stories about the origins of the ciders and the creative minds behind them.
Stop 2: Pumpkin Park – Guided Walk & Seasonal Flavors
From Halikko Church, we’ll walk with a local guide to the enchanting Pumpkin Park. The guide will share the story and evolution of the park, highlighting its vibrant installations and artistic interpretations of the pumpkin theme. We’ll explore different sections of the park and learn about the diversity of pumpkin varieties—from ornamental to culinary. A tasting plate will offer seasonal pumpkin flavors, and you’ll have free time to wander the fields, take photos, explore, and shop at your own pace.
Stop 3: Cultural Landscape & Manor Grounds
The journey continues through a scenic cultural landscape to the intriguing grounds of a former manor. Here, we’ll soak in the atmosphere before heading through Salo town center as twilight deepens.
Final Stop: Valon Leikki (“Play of Light”) – Light Art at Halikko Church
Halikko Church comes alive with Valon Leikki (“Play of Light”), where moving lights illuminate ancient stone walls and Alexander Reichstein’s glowing wire figures bring the past to life. Churchyard trees shimmer in light, while atmospheric music completes this magical experience. After the light show, we’ll drive along the Old Turku Road to Mahtimiehentie for one last glimpse of Pumpkin Park—now glowing in the dark.
Departure begins around 20:00, with arrival in Turku estimated at 21:00.
